Gift Card Function Description:
AcclaimPOS POS Gift Card Module offers real-time issuance and redemption utilizing
magnetic swipe card technology. A customer purchases a Gift Card with cash, check
or credit card for any dollar amount desired. The amount purchased is recorded as
"stored value" or "prepaid" on WindSoft's secure SQL server databases. Cards may be
loaded with any denomination. The Cardholder presents the gift card for full or partial
payment of a purchase.
The merchant swipes the card through their AcclaimPOS POS Software for authorization
and transmission of transaction data to the host database. The Gift Card Module operates
in real time with the database being stored on WindSoft Server. Transactions, such
as card Issuance, Usage, Add Value and Balance Inquiries from the POS software, are
transmitted to this database thru your internet connection. The transaction request
is fulfilled or authorized (or declined) and the result is transmitted back to the
clients POS software. The purchase/usage is added to the customers guest check and
accounted for via the guest check in the POS software. The POS receipt printer produces
a paper receipt of each transaction for the customer or merchant.
Security:
Restaurants are issued unique merchant numbers and all gift cards have both the merchant
number and card number encoded magnetically.

Card numbers are not sequential and have built in "check digit" just like real credit
cards.

Cards from other merchants can not be used at your establishment.

Cards can be left on counter for impulse purchases because until activated have no
value.

Database with card value is off-site so no employee has access to the live databases.

Data stored off-site so even if restaurant computer hard drives crash gift card data
is still secure.
Reporting:
Daily and monthly reports of transactions are available thru the POS system. These
reports show Issues, usage, add value and balance inquires by card and in summary
by card type. These can be printed at any time thru the POS system.
Customer can check his/her card balance at any time at your site or via the internet.
